Description
A Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company employee Tuesday frolicked on the edge of the firm's new fountain. The futuristic fountain is set back on the site of the firm's addition at 720 East Wisconsin Avenue. Mary Grafenauer, an analysis with NML, explored the massive structure--at 60 by 90 feet, it ranks among the largest fountains in the city--shortly after 2,000 employees turned out to see the water turned on by Chairman Francis E Ferguson. Constructed of the same carnelian granite used for the 16-story addition to the company's headquarters, the fountain contains a reflecting pool. It was built in varying heights to achieve a 25-foot cascade at its highest point.

Photo measures 9.75 x 6.5 inches. Photo is dated 07-09-1980.
