Dr. Arnold's Spekke (left), minister of the Latvian government in exile, kissed the hand of Luci Johnson as the president's younger daughter and her fiance, Patrick J. Nugent stood in a receiving line. The two attended a party in their honor, of their upcoming wedding, at the home of roving United States Ambassador W. Averell Harriman.
