1989 Press Photo Christmas Shoppers On Carriage Ride in Oconomowoc Shopping Area

Christmas shoppers and sightseers thronged shopping districts in Oconomowoc last weekend, taking advantage of free musical entertainment, carriage rides and visits from Santa Claus. Muriel Riegor, executive director of the Oconomowoc Area Chamber of Commerce, said more than 150 people took horse-drawn carriage rides (above) through the city. Merchants in the Avenue Square Mall, 175 E. Wisconsin Ave., offered free refreshments to shoppers and sponsored the entertainment, including the Women's Club Chorus (left). Carriage rides, at $1 per person, will again be available from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 23 at the rear entrance of the Avenue Square Mall.
