Description
New York-December 27 Pleads Guilty to Spying for United States-Ex-diplomat Ivan Asen Chistof Georgiev weeps during confession at his trial in Sofia, Bulgaria on charges of spying for the United States. Georgiev, 56, former counsellor of Bulgaria's United Nation delegation, pleaded guilty before the Supreme Court to charges that he spied for seven years for the United States Central Intelligence Agency. About 3,000 Bulgarians today smashed windows of the United States Legation on Sofia and overturned four American cars there, ostensibly in complaint about alleged American employment of Georgiev as a spy. The United States has demanded compensation for the damage.
