Description
Joe Smith, a Minneapolis filling station operator, carried a pro-Nixon sign when the Vice President passed his station. Nixon stopped long enough to meet Smith, whose mythical namesake became a campaign fixture after the Republican convention, when he was mentioned for nomination for vice president.
