Senator Vance Hartke (D-Ind.), is shown at a news conference at the Capitol 12/19 at which he unveiled a Senate staff study suggesting that the U.S. meet with other steel producing nations at a world conference. The conference would be designed to gear steel production capacity to demand and thus avoid a possible "national ordeal" in the U.S. The study was prepared by the Senate Finance Committee.
