A villager (left) and a government Range Management Officer look at the grass that was grown in a formerly arid area through the water-spreading technique. Water-spreading is a method of storing run-off flood water by a system, of dikes and dams. the water slowly seeps into the soil and spreads a rich silt which nourishes the starving grass roots.
