Patrick Hemingway, 34, son of the late author Ernest Hemingway, is learning to fly a plane while taking a course in scientific game management at the University of California at Berkeley. Flying will enable him to count herds and estimate the capacity of the land to support game in remote areas. Hemingway recently returned from living 10 years in east Africa, where he was a safari outfitter. He is studying for his masters degree in Zoology.
