Description
In the later part of his life, Evan P. Helfaer gave away almost $3 million a year. There were years in which he helped more than 300 causes. Some of the gifts were very large; Helfaer built the Milwaukee Jewish Federation Building, where this photograph was taken in front of a Marc Chagall tapestry. Evan Helfaer stood next to a tapestry re-creation of a Marc Chagall painting during dedication ceremonies for the Helfaer Community Service Center Sunday.
