1984 Press Photo Detroit Gorilla, Mesou on breeding loan to Milwaukee County Zoo

Mesou, a 29-year-old female gorilla, arrived Wednesday at the Milwaukee County Zoo on breeding loan from her home at the Detroit Zoo. Mesou was on breeding loan to the Brookfield Zoo in Illinois before coming to Milwaukee. She peeked at her new home from a holding-pen door (left) and ventured a few feet into the cage, but was too shy to stay out and returned to the security of the holding pen.
