Milwaukee's new modern Police Administration Building dominates the north side of the Civic Center Plaza. Construction of the sleek structure began in 1969 and was completed in February of this year. Most of the police and related services used by the public are located on the second floor. These include the 1st District Police Station, city attorney's office and Traffic Bureau. The Detective Bureau is housed on the third and fourth floors with a connecting private stairway. The Warrant Division, Bureau of Identification and Detective Clerical Bureau are on the third floor. The Vice Squad and Youth Aid Bureau occupy part of the fourth floor. The cellblock and jail offices occupy the south half of the fifth and sixth floors. The Medical Bureau, formerly housed in one small office in the Safety Building, has been expanded to include a large waiting room and several offices on another part of the fifth floor. The communications Bureau occupies a portion of the sixth floor which also includes space for an officers lounge and computer center. The top floor is occupied by Police Chief Harold A. Brier, his top officers and staff, with offices also provided for the Fire and Police Commission. Milwaukee-Police Department-Buildings
