A massive modernistic monument in the little town of Dolores Hidalgo, 155 miles from Mexico City, has been erected to mark the sesquicentennial of Mexican Independence. It was here that Father Miguel Hidalgo, stirred by Spanish oppression, began Mexico's war for independence in 1810. Mexico - cities -"D". Mexican Symbol.
