"We were able to buy the snake even though zoos all over the country constantly are on the lookout for specimens," Dickinson said. "We have tried for hears to get one." After the museum's specimen is put to sleep, a cast will be ... An effort was made Friday morning to put the snake to sleep with two capsules containing six grains of nembutal. But the drug apparently was not fresh and the snake only relaxed and fell asleep. Within a few hours it awakened and was as lively as ever. So Dickinson sent to Dr. Krumbiegel for a new prescription, enough to do the job on Monday.
