Dumas Malone, 90, stands next to the statue of Thomas Jefferson by sculptor Carl Bitter on the lawn of the University of Virginia in Monticello. Mr. Malone, now blind, has spent 40 years writing his six volume masterpiece called "Jefferson and His Time."
