A noted French cancer researcher reported here Monday that a combination of chemotherapy and stimulation of the body's own natural defense mechanism had shown promising results in the treatment of certain acute forms of leukemia. Dr. Georges Mathe, 49, said that of 100 patients treated with his therapeutic strategy in clinical trials begun in 1964, about 45 persons were still alive after 4 years or more, and now had no trace of the disease. Mathe, director of the Institute for the Study of Cancer and Immunotherapy in Paris, was in Milwaukee to visit Dr. Mortimer M. Bortin, director of the Mount Sinai Medical....
