Workers leave the General Electric Hotpoint plant S. 43rd St., West Milwaukee, on Monday after learning that their jobs may soon end. The plant employs 290 and has been owned by General Electric since 1947. Al Czajczynski (below), a 29-year veteran of the plant, blames its impending closure on what he sees as the federal government's lack of response to the recession and foreign competition.
