Spring bulbs provide some of the best loved flowers of the garden. Rising early from buds which have been protected underground all winter they are among the first flowers to appear, hence are especially welcome. Early types in the picture include daffodils (rear left), hyacinths (middle right) and grape hyacinths (loser left). Cut flowers from your garden, however, may not be the best choice of gifts for someone in the hospital.
