Alphonse J. (Al) Lynch, a key member of the county sheriff's department for 46 1/2 years, will report to work for the last time Friday. During his record term of service in the department as senior clerk-bookkeeper and later as "office manager," Lynch served under 15 different sheriffs, both Democrats and Republicans.
