Mary Belle Lyons a volunteer at University Hospital and Clinics in Madison, is living proof of the contributions made by scientists at the McArdle Laboratory. Lyons, who was diagnosed as having breast cancer in 1966, was treated at University Hospital with the then-experimental anti-cancer drug 5-Fluorouracil, developed at McArdle.
