1963 Press Photo Italian Soldiers pulling bodies from mud & debris, Piave River

Thursday was a grim day as Italian soldiers worked in mud up to their waists as they pulled the pajama clad bodies of victims from the debris. Bodies of villagers and animals lay half buried along the banks of the Piave river.
