1976 Press Photo Fishermen Fishing on Wolf River Bridge at New London, Wisconsin

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
The distance from pole tip to water was shortened by high water Monday for these fishermen on a bridge over the Wolf River at New London. The river was about a foot over flood stage Tuesday, but officials continued to hope it would crest before causing too much damage. A few families were evacuated from flooded homes on New London's lower west side. City police said the Highway 45 truck route through the city has about a half foot of water, but trucks were able to drive through it. At Shiocton, Wolf River flooding closed sections of several roads.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 03-30-1976.
