1929 Press Photo Residents of Milwaukee Rescued from Ship, President Garfield

Milwaukeeans in Reserve at Sea This picture was taken while passengers aboard the disabled liner President Garfield, fast on a reef off the Bahama islands, were being transferred to the rescue ship, the Pan-America. Among the passengers who were rescued were Mr. and Mrs. T. Chalkley Halton, 256 East Juneau av., Milwaukee. This picture shows a boatload of passengers preparing to leave the disabled ship. They were all wearing life preservers.

Photo is dated 1929.
