1963 Press Photo Accused Russian Spy Ivan D. Egorov after Court Apperance

Ivan D. Egorov, 41, front center, and his wife, Aleksandra, 39, are surrounded by gaurds as they are led from Federal Court in Brooklyn, New York today after a federal judge gave permission for them to be sent home to Russia in exchange for two Americans. The Egorovs, who were arrested and charged as spies against the United States in July of this year, were taken to the airport for flight to Russia. Americans Marvin W. Makinen, imprisoned in Russia since 1961, and Roman Catholic priest Reverend Walter Ciszek, imprisoned since 1940, were released by Russia in the swap. They had been accused of spying by the Russians.
