These Irish translations are the work of Prof. Janet Egleson Dunleavy, who teaches the Irish language and Irish literature at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Mrs. Dunleavy is not Irish herself, a fact well hidden because she can tell a story and enrapture a listener in a manner that any real Irishman would covet. The myths about leprechauns, those mischievous little people most of us associate with Ireland, were mostly spun by Irish immigrants.
