French President Charles de Gaulle talks with Pope Paul VI during an audience with the pontiff at Vatican City May 31. De Gaulle, wearing the Grand Collar of the Supreme Order of Christ, the Vatican's highest award which was presented to him by Pope John during a previous visit to the Vatican, extended his Italian visit after the conclusion, May 30, of the two-day meeting of Common market leaders in order to meet with the Roman Catholic leader.
