Teen mentor Ivel Maldonado, 17, hand out literature to Jesus Bravo during the recent 1994 Parent Educator Institute. Ivel and two other mentors showed the crowd what they learned about communicating with kids through the Decisions for Youth Program. Combining theater games and storytelling with the example of their own lives, 10 teenagers are driving home prevention messages to younger children on the near South Side. The "teen mentors" are part of the Decisions for Youth Program at the United Community Center, 1028 S. 9th St. Last week, at the 1994 Parent-Educator Institute, sponsored by the Greater Milwaukee Education Trust and held at South Division High School, three of them had a chance to showcase the training they received this summer.
