1973 Press Photo Vincent Dobelman dies from heart transplant from donor's cancer

Washington DC--For the first time in the history of heart transplants, a recipient has died of a cancer apparently introduced into his body by the heart that he received. The case was disclosed by the St. Louis University Medical Center Friday. An official of the American College of Surgeons called it unique. No previous heart recipient had succumbed to cancer transmitted from his donor.
