1983 Press Photo Whalebone Corset and Bustle Pad at Milwaukee Public Museum

A bustle pad of the 1890s made of striped fabric helped a woman look fashionably full in black; and a corset with a whalebone "bask" (about 1850) kept another wearer flat in front.
