1951 Press Photo Cobalt-60 Cancer Teletherapy Unit Presentation in Washington

The newest anticancer weapon, the cobalt-60 cancer teletherapy unit, was unveiled in Washington. Instead of an X-ray tube, it uses four tiny wafers of radioactive cobalt in a "head" one foot in diameter.
