Dennis Brutus, 52 a native of South Africa, is a professor of African Literature at Northwestern University. He is also the president of the South African Non-Racial Olympic Committee (SANROC), a consultant with the Supreme Council of support in Africa and a post. He may be one the most powerful men in the world in sports outside the United States. He is the person whom the Evening Standard -a British newspaper- referred to in a banner headline last July as "The man Behind Olympic Turmoil."
