These wrought-iron gates, bearing the inscription, "Justice and judgement are the habitation of thy throne", were dedicated in Washington, cathedral on Mount Saint Alban, Washington, May 28, to the memory of Melville Weston Fuller, former Chief Justice of the United States. Mrs. Hugh Campbell Wallace, daughter of Chief Justice Fuller and widow of the former ambassador to France, gave the memorial to the cathedral. It was designed and executed by Samuel Vellin of Philadelphia.
