1976 Press Photo Evelyn McGaw Leach-Author of "Saukville, the Gem of Ozaukee"

Saukville-Just past its 61st birthday, the Village of Saukville has packaged its story and called it "Saukville, the Gem of the Ozaukee." One of the principal authors is Evelyn McGaw Leach, and her story is almost as remarkable as the community's. She explains that Saukville is the gen of the county-in its industry, location, freeway and, most of all, in its people. Such enthusiasm is her style, although Mrs. Leach has been crippled with rheumatoid arthritis since she was 19, in more recent years has grappled with failing eyesight, and now is legally blind. but she keeps busy and useful as a correspondent for two newspapers, as the director of the Saukville Recreation department and the executive secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, which introduced the commemorative book at its annual dinner Wednesday.
