Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
West Allis new Water Tower appears to be underside of a space ship, looming over a space visitor, as Scott Iseler of Iseler Demolition, Port Hope, Mich, works with a welding torch Monday to demolish the city's old water tower in the foreground. Paint on the 70 yr old tower was lead based and city officials decided that removal of the old paint and repainting would be too costly. So they voted to replace the tower with the new one. Demolition of the old tower shown partially disassembled, was completed Monday. The tower site is near S 84th St and W National Ave.

Photo is dated 1993.

Photo measures 11.25 x 9.25 inches.
