Nobel prize recipients, Stockholm: The 1968 Nobel Prize recipients, five American scientists and a Japanese author-men judged to ahve "most benefited mankind" in the past year -- appear together here December 10th following the awards presentation. From left are: Prof: H. Gobind Khorana of the Univ. of Wisconsin; Prof. Robert W. Holley of Cornell Univ.; Prof. Luis W. Alvarez of the Univ. of California; Dr. Marshall W. Nirenberg of the National Institute of Health (Bethesda, Md.); Prof. Lars Onsager of Yale Univ.; and Japanese author Yasunari Kawatabi. Dr. Nirenberg and Professors Khorana and Holley were cited in the field of medicine for having "cracked" the genetic code of heredity. Prof. Alvarez was cited in the field of physics for his contribution to elementary particle physics. Prof. Onsager was cited in the filed of chemistry for his discovery of a thermodynamic law which bears his name. Kawatabi was cited in the field of Literature
