43 freight cars were demolished & their cargoes were strewn over a wide area in a spectacular collision between two Soo Line freight trains in Waukesha county Saturday morning. No one was hurt. The accident happened when several cars of a passing freight jumped track and struck the standing train. The rear cars on the moving train telescoped into each other, stood on end and were smashed to pieces in the collision. The crash occurred at 8:30am in the town of Brookfield, near the junction of highways 190 and 168. The passing train, No 28, was headed south from Fond du Lac to Chicago at about 50 miles an hour, pulling 80 cars. The standing train, No 23 was waiting on a siding.
