Description
Law Lords to decide riddle of Peerage title; A family feud that rocked high society in the roaring twenties was re opened in the house of Lords today, where four law lords and sixteen peers are to try and decide the issue. It is a dispute between two sons over the right to the title of Lord Ampthill, who died in 1973. Mr. Geoffrey Russel, a theatrical impresario, succeeded hi father as fourth baron. But legal action to claim the peerage was then started by his half brother, Mr. John Hugo Trenchard Russell, son of the third baron by a later marriage. The late Lord Ampthill figured in a divorce case more than 50 years ago over Geoffrey Russell, which became known as the "Russell baby case". Photo Shows Mr. Geoffrey Russell and his wife Elisabeth leaving the house of Lords after the hearing today.

Photo measures 8 x 10 inches.
