40th anniversary of the deal of Carl Friedrich Benz. On April 5, 1929 Carl Friedrich Benz, father of the automobile, died in Ladenburg at Mannheim at the age of 85. Benz pioneered the development of high-speed, light combustion engines. In 1885 he created, independently of Daimler, the single-cylinder, four-stroke, three wheeled gasoline engine driven automobile, the foundations of the modern automobile. The automobile, represented in 1886 in Mannheim, is now on display in the German Museum in Munich. Benz analyzed his idea in the Benz & Cie company, which he founded. In 1926 the Daimler and Benz companies came together to become Daimler-Benz.
