Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
The world gazes on Berlin.... There are 1,695,000 eligible voters in Berlin. Here we have Berlin's municipal leader, mayor Dr. Schreiber and his spouse, who are here to decide which political path the residents of the German bulwark of freedom will take in the next four years. While in 1950 they could pick from eight parties, this time nine parties will be represented on the ballot. For the first time since 1946, the SED again has candidates up for election in the Berlin delegation house.

Photo measures 6.25 x 8.25 inches.

Photo is dated 12-5-1954.
