Description
A harbour is cleared as a trawler brings in a highly dangerous war-time nine at Folkestone: About 300 people were evacuated from their sea-front houses at Folkestone yesterday after a fishing trawler brought in a rusting but "highly dangerous" threstone war-time mine tangled in its nats. The two-man crew of the Folkestone trawler "Pair Chance", which brought the mine into the inner harbour, volunteered to tow it out to sea and 12 hours later it was exploded harmlessly by a Royal Navy bomb disposal team. Photo shows Navy frogman are seen fixing a tow line to the bomb so that the fishing trawler "Fair Chance" could tow it out to sea where it was harmlessly blown up.

Photo is dated 1973.
