Description
Two Cranach Paintings Returned To Dresden: Two paintings of the art gallery in Dresden "Christ on the Mount of Olives" and the "Painting of an older man" by Lukas Cranach the elder, have now returned to Dresden after 15 years of "wandering about". The last place they came to during their "journey" was London, where they were to be sold on an auction by the Czech emigrant Dr. Maximilian Ungar (Ungar). The two p[aintings were not amongst those which could be "saved" by the Soviets in 1954, but by some unknown person they were sold illegally to a Prague art dealer of whom in 1946 they were bought by the physician Dr. Ungar. Photo shows. The pictures are being unpacked by members of State Art Collections. The paintings came from London to Dresden by air. On the left: director of the State Art Collections Max Seydewitz (Max Seydewitz).

Photo measures 8 x 6 inches.

Photo is dated 08-08-1959.
