Description
The carrier that never went to sea will end her days as Razor Blades. The aircraft carrier Leviathan, 15,700 tons, pictured yesterday being towed out of Portsmouth Harbour on her way to the ship breakers at Faslade, Scotland, where she will be scrapped for a razorblade company. After being launched in 1945. the Leviathan was towed to Portsmouth for fitting out. Work on her was stopped in 1945 and she has been berthed. unwanted at Portsmouth for 22 years. Maintenance on the warship that never went to sea - has cost 7000 a year.
