To Bore Undersea Tunnels: Japan's biggest offshore working platform, recently completed at the Tamano Shipyard of the Mitsu Shipbuilding works in Okayama Prefecture, is shown on its way to bore a tunnel beneath Dokai Bay in Kitakyushu to house a conveyor belt to carry new material from an undersea deposit to land for processing. The platform is 60 meters long, 30 wide and has 40 meter long steel supports and cranes.
