1969 Press Photo UAR Flag Raised Over the Israeli position at Suez Canal

Successful Crossing operation on the Suez canal. Two infantry detachments of the UAR Armed forces Numbering 250 men crossed the Suez Canal on Dec 6th breaking into the enemy fortified positions and succeeded in building up all entry fortification and equipment in these p~ositions on the Easter~ bank of the cam~l. The Egyptian forces remained occu~ying the enemy position for 24 houres, then retired saf~ly to their base. Photo shows UAR Flag Raised Over the Israeli position after they occu~ise it.
