Painting Once Sold For £17 - Fetches 36,000 Guineas Believed To Be An Original "El Greco": A sensation was created this morning at Christies when "Lot 14" was sold fro 36,000 guineas.. The painting is described as "Christ Healing the Blind" by P. Verosese - and it was sold at Christies in 1888 for 17 Guineas. Experts are convinced that the painting is an early 017 Guineaas. Photo shows Mr. Geoffrey Agnew (right) with his brother Hugh (left) at the auction today. They are Bond Street art dealers - and the painting was purchased by the former for 36,000 guineas.
