Description
With the tractor to the West : For the first time for years a man from the Eastern zone of Germany succeeded in fleeing across the border with all his property. The 39 year old farmer managed this feat. He was caretaker of the Dorothea farm near Heiligenatadt, which is about 75 across large. Hugo Kohl, who crossed the death line in the district of Goettingen took with him his tractor and a trailer with full load. With him came his 15 year old agricultural assistant who crossed the border with the two horses of the Dorothea farm, Max and Lotte, near Bischhagen. The reason for their flight from their home: the farm was to be changed into an agricultural co operative society. The caretaker Hugo Kohl leaves his track which is armored with three millimeter thick sheet steel. Left: the agricultural assistant emptying the sacks which were for camouflage filled on top with corn and at the bottom with their property.
