Description
Fourteen Islanders Arrested During Attempt To Stop Traffic From The First Sunday Ferry Service: Fourteen Islanders were arrested, including a local minister, yesterday,. after an attempt to block traffic from the first regular Sunday ferry service to run between the Scottish mainland and the Isle of Skye. The arrests followed a struggle during which the Islanders staged a "sit-down" demonstration blocking the road from the jetty. The demonstration marked the climax of a nine-months campaign in the Isle of Skye, stronghold of the Scottish Sabbath, against the introduction of the Sunday Ferry service. Photo shows the police keep back the islanders of Skye as a car drives ashore from the first Sunday ferry service yesterday.
