The Queen inaugurates Holland houses - The largest hostel in the youth hostels association: The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh today paid a visit to Holland House where she inaugurated the largest hostel in the youth hostels association. Holland House, Kensington, the stately 350-year-old Jacobean mansion was the London home of the Earls of Ichester, and through the ages it became the meeting place of politicians, writers and painters. Apart from the east wing, the house had suffered beyond restoration and a few years ago was demolished. The new hostel has 200 beds and will help to meet a big demand. Photo shows Morris dancers of the youth Hostel Association pay their respects to the Queen as she toured the grounds of the hostel.
