Navy And R.A.F. Step Up Operation Food-Drop: A great combined air, sea and land operation is now in operation bringing relief to the snowbound northern counties of Scotland. Helicopters and other planes are flying all day dropping food and medical supplies to beleaguered villages. Nearly three tons of supplies have already been dropped. Photo shows a view from a helicopter which summarises the blizzard drama. A village in Caithness is cut off; supplies diminish they engrave an "H" in the snow and give it greater prominence with straw.

Photo measures 8.25 x 6 inches.
