Death role rises in Hamburg floods. worst in living Memory: Twenty thousand troops - many of them British are helping in the great rescue operations in the Floods which are now sweeping through vast tracks of Germany. worst hit is the Hamburg area- where a fifth of the city is under water. Two hundred an a fifty people are dead or missing - in the floods said to be the worst on record. Photo shows Boats and all types of craft are used to rescue people from their flooded homes in the Hamburg area.
