ROAD CONDITIONS WORSEN AS FROST FOLLOWS THAW - SCORES OF VILLAGES CUT OFF BY SNOW DRIFTS: Frost last night after a partial thaw kept road conditions treacherous in most parts of Britain. On more than 50,000 miles of roads havoc was as widespread as ever. Scores of villages were still out off by huge snowdrifts. Travel conditions were worse in Yorkshire which is practically isolated. Photo shows This was the chaotic scene on the moorland road near the Woodhead Pass between Manchester and Sheffield showing cars and lorries which have been trapped in heavy snowdrifts since Monday.
